Aruba-specific upgrade considerations

The most consequential decision in many Aruba estates is not which version to move to but which platform family the estate is on. Organisations running the earlier AOS-Switch platforms alongside newer CX hardware are effectively maintaining two operating models, with different configuration syntax, different tooling and different lifecycle timelines. A lifecycle assessment on a mixed Aruba estate usually needs to address that division explicitly rather than treating it as a version question.

On the wireless side, controller and access point firmware move together, so the AP compatibility matrix governs which controller versions are viable. Estates that have added AP generations over several years frequently find the oldest models constrain how far the controller can advance, and that constraint needs surfacing during planning rather than after the APs fail to rejoin.

Aruba clustering and VSX pairs support staged upgrades that can substantially reduce service impact, but only where the cluster is genuinely healthy and correctly configured beforehand. Verifying that redundancy actually works — rather than assuming it because it was designed in — is a standard part of our pre-change assessment.

Do you upgrade Aruba CX switches?

Yes. AOS-CX upgrades across campus and data centre switching are standard work for us, including VSX pair sequencing so that redundant pairs are upgraded one side at a time with validation in between rather than together.

Can you help us move from AOS-Switch to CX?

Yes. That is a migration rather than an upgrade — configuration syntax, feature representation and operational tooling all differ between the platforms. We handle it as a migration engagement with configuration translation, staged cutover and a rollback position maintained until the new platform has proved itself.

Do you upgrade Aruba wireless controllers and access points?

Yes, together — AP firmware is supplied by the controller, so they move as a unit. The critical pre-check is confirming every AP model in the estate is supported on the target controller version, since a version that has dropped support for an older model will strand those APs on rejoin.

Can you assess our Aruba estate's lifecycle position?

Yes. Supply an inventory with model and part numbers and we will map each device against published HPE Aruba lifecycle milestones, then produce a phased refresh roadmap timed to your budget cycle rather than to the vendor's announcement schedule.

Do you work with Aruba Central and cloud-managed deployments?

Yes. Cloud-managed estates have a different lifecycle model, with firmware trains controlled centrally and the customer choosing when to take them within a supported window.
